Our Funding Challenge

  • The Calgary Round-Up Band currently receives funding from the Calgary Foundation for the Arts and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, but without the dedication and efforts of its many volunteers and those community leaders who choose to support the Calgary Round-Up Band, the band would not be able to provide this valuable opportunity to the youth of Southern Alberta.
  • Contrary to popular belief, the Calgary Round-Up Band is not associated with or funded by the Calgary Stampede.  Nearly 70% percent of the operating and  performance budget for the band, that does not come from the membership fees paid by its youth members, is raised through the efforts of volunteers who engage in fundraising activities throughout the season, apply for grants, and seek sponsorship support from community leaders, service clubs and businesses.
  • The fees paid by Calgary Round-Up Band youth members only cover 30% percent of the approximately $733,000 annual operating and performing costs of the band.
  • Due to the reputation and success of the Calgary Round-Up Band, word travels fast and over 200 youth joined the band in 2012, and increase of over 60% from 2011 .  As a result of this growth equipment, uniforms, rehearsal space and storage are stretched.
